Ted talk Written Response

When Pamela Myers said that lying is a cooperative act, she means that lying is an act that requires more than one person. Lying involves one person to tell the lie and then another person who believes the lie to be true or sometimes they may fake it to say that they believe it when really they do not.  I do agree that lying is a cooperative act because, when one person tells the lie, it  can then be spread around to many other people who could tell the lie to many others.  When Myers said in the video that lying is a way of connecting what we wish we were with what we are, she basically is saying that people lie to make themselves act like something that they really wish they were in their lives.

Hitchcock Individual Post

Ethics:Hitchcock used ethics to portray how women dressed, and how kissing scenes were filmed. The women in the films wore revealing clothes to give them the hour glass figure shape.By doing this Hitchcock showed the ethical way of how women dressed in the time periods of the films. Kissing scenes had to be only 3 seconds because they were very strict about how long kissing scenes could be during the 1940s.  Hitchcock filmed several short kissing scenes rather than one long scene.
Psychology: Use of a Maguffin and having a scene where a character realizes that something happens to them are ways that Hitchcock used psychology in his films. One maguffin used  is the wine bottles filled with uranium.Alcia realized that she was poisoned and reacts to this right away.
Historical Context:Kissing scenes were not allowed to be no longer than 3 seconds in movies during the 60s. They were  also strict on how women were to act. Hitchcock disobeyed the rule by having Alecia act in inappropriate ways that were not proper during this time period.
Technology: Camera angles are very important in Hitchcock films. They  were used to focus on characters eyes to create suspense. They help to show emotion. Hitchcock has diffrent camera angles to show what characters are feeling and what they see in the different scenes.

Miracles from Heaven

On April 27th, I went to see the movie Miracles from Heaven. This movie was based on the true story of a young girl named Anna Beam. While watching this movie in the theaters, I had tears in my eyes becaue there were some very sad scenes but I cried when happy events happened in the movie too.  Overall this movie was very inspirational. This movie has a  very, inspirational message for  the viewers who watch the film.  The message is that no matter what happens in your life, you must have faith during any situation that you face in life. I would really recommend people to go see this movie because it is very inspiring, and it teaches a great message about life.

Top 5 Skills I want to Gain in College

The top 5 skills that I wish to gain by the time I leave college are cooking , sewing, proper communication skills, time management, and organizational skills. I want to learn cooking skills,  because I want to  be able to learn how to cook  many different types of food dishes for myself , my family, and  friends in the future.  By learning cooking skills, I will also be able to understand what all the fancy cooking words mean in a recipe that I would be using to cook different types of food.   I would like to learn how to sew, so that I will be able to know how to fix a piece of clothing, if I ever notice a tear or the clothes need a button sewn back on. I also want to learn proper communication skills. It is important that I learn this skill, so that I will be able to speak to people that I meet, in  a respectful and proper way. For example, I want to learn the communication skills that are used in being interviewed for a job. This way  I will be able to know how to properly communicate with a manager or supervisor who works  for a job that I hope to have in the future. Time management is something I want to learn, so that when I leave college I will be able to know how to manage my time wisely.  I am someone who struggles with time management, since I sometimes tend to fall behind in my school work. Learning time management skills will be very beneficial to me. Organizational skills is something that I want to learn before I leave college because, I want to be able to say that I know how to properly organize my stuff so that I will be able to know where everything is, so I will be able to locate where it is whenever I need it for something that I am doing in my life. By learning these skills, I will be able to apply them to my life after college.

My Top Ten Song List

I have many favorite songs that I listen to, but here are the top 10 songs that represent my life.
1. The Climb by Miley Cyrus- This song reminds me that I should never give up on my dreams, even if obstacles get in the way of me achieving that dream. I heard this song the first time that I ever saw the Hannah Montana move when it first premiered in theatres during the year 2009.
2. Roar by Katy Perry- This song reminds me that I am capable of getting though anything in my life, as long as I have confidence in my self.
3.Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars- This song reminds that people will always like me just the way I am, and that I do not need to change.  People are always telling me not to change, since I am such a nice person who is nice to everyone that I meet in my life.
4. My Girl by The  Temptations- My dad always would play this song when I was a little girl  and I would always sing along to the song. It reminds me that I will always be my dad's girl no matter what happens.
5. Let it Go by Idina Menzel- This is the song that I performed for my induction into Thespians Society during my senior year of high school. Performing this song, was also the first time that I ever did a solo in front of an audience.
6. You Will Be In My Heart by Phil Collins- This song makes me remember that I will always be thinking of the people that I love no matter what happens.
7. What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction- This was the first song that I heard by One Direction, at my first Father Daughter dance during my freshmen year of high school.  I have listened to this song ever since that day.
8. My Heart Goes On by Celine Dion- My dad loves to listen to songs by Celine Dion, and he always loved to play this song when I was little. I would always love to sing along to the song, and I would always make up my own lyrics, since I did not all the words to the song. My parents thought it was so adorable when I would
9. Part of Your World by Jodi Benson - This was the song that I performed for my first audition for the spring musical during my junior year in high school. So this song is very important because, this was the first time that I had ever performed an audition for a musical at my school.
10.Don't Stop Believing by Journey- When ever I hear this song, I think of my dad because he loves to listen to this group. This song inspires me to not give up on believing in myself or the other people around me.

My fun day with my grandma

During spring break, I got to spend a fun day with my grandma. I called her one day during break, and asked her if she would like to visit with me while I was home.  When she called me back, I was so excited that she wanted to spend the day to do something fun. The day started with going out to   lunch and we also went to the movies. The restaurant we went to was a pizza place called Mellow Mushroom. We had a peperoni pizza. It was so delicious. After we had lunch, we went to the movie theatre to see a movie. We saw the movie Eddie the Eagle. This movie is about Michael "Eddie"  Edwards the first ever British ski jumper who represented Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping. I really enjoyed this movie because it had a great message. The message that this movie taught me was that you should never give up on your dreams no matter what. Michel " Eddie " Edwards is a real inspiration for people because he never gave up on his dream of becoming an Olympic ski jumper.  This movie showed me that I should never give up on my dreams for the future. Overall I would say that I had a great time with my grandma during spring break.

Why I am so glad that I chose Defiance College

There are so many reasons why I am so glad that I chose Defiance College, as the school that I wanted to attend to continue my education.  One of these reasons is that I have made many friends, who I have gained new relationships with. Second, I have had the chance to experience new activities and events that have helped me to grow as a person. Third, the staff at the college are willing to really get to know the students who are on the campus, which is something I really like. So these are the reasons why I am so glad that I chose to attend Defiance College.
The friends that I have made at Defiance, are ones that I hope to be friends with for a very long time. These individuals are always there for me when ever I need them. They are always there to help make me smile, and I am so glad that I have them in my life.

During my first year of college I have attended many fun events and activities, that have helped me to grow as a person. At the beginning of the year I was a very shy person, who was not really talkative with the students on campus, or the one that did not really participate in events. But as my first year has gone on, I have become more social with people on campus by having conversations with  them. I have also participated in many social events such as open mic nights, and attending school dances that we have had on campus.
The staff at Defiance College, are so nice to all the students on campus. They really do take the time to know each student's name. Everyday when I am around campus, they always say hi to me. This makes me so happy, to attend a school that has  allowed me to know the staff really well. I am so glad that I chose to come to Defiance.

My biggest regret in life

My biggest regret in life does follow the same "not" pattern. Basically, one of the biggest regrets that I have in my  life, is not having the chance to really know one of my classmates in high school. This classmate and I did not get the chance to know one another because, I was someone who did not really talk with all the students who were in my class. I would have had the chance to talk to this classmate, but then something very sad happened to this classmate. They were killed in a car accident.  I was vey upset to hear that this had occurred, especially since they were someone who was a student in my high school class.

I regret this situation because, I never got the chance to introduce myself to this person and never had the chance to have conversations or attend school events with this classmate. I really wish that I had been more open to talking with this person and not just the students who I had close friendships with. I could not "turn around this regret.  I really wish I could but I cannot.

Having regrets relates to the course theme of lies and deception because, the regrets that people may have in their lives could possibly be  a lie, since people promise that they will be able to make up for their regrets later in life, but that  may not happen if they become too busy with other events in their lives.

My first year as a college student

My first year as a college student, has been one of the best experiences ever. During my first year of college,  I have made lots of new friends with my classmates and even with the upperclassmen on  campus. I would definitely say that I have a very close relationship with  my new friends, since I always hang out with them and we always talk with one another a lot.  My friends that I have made during my first year of college, are very special to me and I hope that our friendships will last for a long time. These friends are people who really care about me and they are there for me if I ever need them.
I have also experienced many fun events and activities during my first year of college. Some of these experiences include Open Mic Nights, cheerleading at the women's and men's basketball games, and helping out  with many fun volunteer opportunities. By participating in these events and activities, I have become less shy and become more confident in being interactive with the people who I have met during my first year of college. At first I was not very talkative around my friends and teachers , but this has changed since I am now able to have conversations with them. But I am so proud of myself for having the courage to get up in front of a crowd and sing karaoke with my friends at Open Mic Nights. I am also proud of myself for trying out for the cheerleading squad. So this first year of college experiences have helped me to grow as an individual and experience many new things that I have never done before. So I definitely have enjoyed my first year of college, and I cannot wait to see what the next 3 years will have in store for me.

My service immersion trip to Give Kids the World Village

This past summer, I went with 10 other girls and 2 of the guidance counselors from my high school on a service immersion trip to Kissimee Florida to volunteer at Give Kids the World Village. Give Kids the World, is a non-profit resort where children with life-threatening illnesses and their families can come to stay and visit the different theme parks or attractions that are in central Florida. When we arrived at the village, the volunteers were so welcoming and very friendly. We then went on a tour to see the different venues that the village has available for the families to enjoy during their stay. After our tour, we went to sign in and to begin our first day. The job that I had for the first day was working in the Castle of Miracles. This is a place in the village where the Wish child comes to make their star, which is then put up by in the Star Fairy at night. Creating this gold star is a very special moment for the child and their family because, the child gets to write their name or draw anything they want to make it their own personal star. The families can then come back to the Castle, and volunteers are able to locate where  the Child's star was placed by simply looking up the child's name. I also got to do many other fun jobs that included driving a little train around the village, operating a carousel, working at a Pirate/ Princess Party and a talent show.
Volunteering at Give Kids the World was one of the best volunteer opportunities that I have ever had. The families I got to meet at the village were so nice and very appreciative of all the work that I was doing to make them have the best experience ever. And I was able to do this by talking with them and by constantly smiling to show that I was having fun volunteering at this wonderful place. I am so glad that I applied  to be a part of the group that went on this amazing and life changing service immersion trip. I really hope that I can go back and volunteer at Give Kids the World Village some day in the future.

Audiences of a Commercial

Being aware of who your audience is a very important part of a commercial. This is important because, if you are interested in the commercial then you are more likely to purchase or want to learn more about the  information  mentioned in the ad. This is why advertisers make their advertisements very interesting so many people will want to watch them. So this is why you should be aware of who watches the commercial.

The IPhone 6 commercial is intended  for an audience of young adults.  This group would be the intended audience because, young adults were the individuals that were using the IPhones in the ad. Young  adults are also known to be the ones who know how to work the different features that an IPhone offers to the people who use the device on a daily basis, unlike adults who are not as familiar with these features as young adults are. Some of these features of the IPhone include I-message, Face Time, Camera, and Video.

Men would be the intended audience for the ad about the Samsung Smart tv. This audience is intended for this commercial because, many men were attracted to the pretty girl in the video, and they were all trying to be the one to get the girl to like them. So they all ran to her apartment, and then they notice that she has a Smart tv from Samsung. She was appealing to the guys in the video, so if men saw this commercial they would automatically be attracted to her too. The television would also be appealing and make people want to buy one for their house.

People who really want to drive or take a ride in a Mercedes Benz car, are the intended audience for the Mercedes Benz commercial. This is the intended audience because, in this video the little boy really wanted the chance to ride in a Mercedes. So he sneaks out of the house, and then goes to tell the police man that he is lost, just so he could get a ride home  in the Mercedes Benz. The little boy really likes Mercedes cars so that is another reason why he wants to ride in the police man's car.

We should be critical of audience in advertisements or other information that surrounds us because, we as human beings need to take into consideration whether or not we really want to have these products. Some commercials we may not be even interested in the product or information that is presented or we may not need it depending on our situations in life. So this why we should be critical of audience in advertisements or other information.

Cheerleading at Defiance College

Deciding to tryout for the Defiance College cheerleading squad, was one of the best decisions I have ever made as part of my freshman year of college. I first heard about tryouts, when I got an email from the cheerleading adviser asking for more students to join the squad for basketball season. I was so excited when I got the email, since I had an interest in possibly becoming a cheerleader. So when the day came for the tryouts, I was a little nervous, because  I had only had a little cheerleading experience. The girls who were already a part of the squad, taught me some of the basic cheerleading motions that were used in the different basketball chants at games. I had a little trouble learning them, but I was thankful to have the girls there to assist me when I needed help. Once the tryouts were done, I felt so happy that I had tried out. A day after the tryouts, I met with the cheer adviser and told her that I was interested in being a part of the squad. She was so excited that I tried out for the squad, and I received a packet that contained information all about cheerleading at Defiance College. I attended practices to learn the chants and fight song that we were going to perform at the basketball games. When I received the uniform and pompoms, I was so excited to officially be a Defiance cheerleader. I definitely would say that I have a close bond with the girls who are a part of the cheerleading squad, since they are always wanting to help me out if I am needing extra assistance with a basketball chant. Cheering at the basketball games are so much fun. My favorite part of the games is when we do the different chants and the fight song. I always have a smile on my face, and this shows people that I am having so much fun being a cheerleader.  So I am having a great time being a Defiance cheerleader and I hope to continue it next year for football season.

My Narrative ( the first time I auditioned for a spring musical)

It was the week before my first audition for the spring musical at McAuley high school, and I had to figure out what 1-2 minute monologue and Disney or Broadway song that I wanted to perform. I wanted to choose something that would be easy to learn and memorize, so that I would not have any difficulty when I went to practice the words.  The monologue and song I decided to do was from Disney's The Little Mermaid. This was an easy thing to do because I am very good at memorizing things from Disney movies, since I have seen them many times. So when I practiced the monologue and song, I thought of Ariel saying the words and singing the lyrics to the song. I am so glad that I had my parents there when I practiced, since they sat and listened as if they were the audience in the room where the auditions were going to be. When the day of the audition came, I was really nervous that I would accidentally forget the words to the monologue or the song. But since I practiced a lot before the audition, I was able to give an amazing performance.  After the audition, I was so proud of myself for having the courage to get up in front of an audience to recite a monologue and sing a song. Once all the auditions and callbacks were finished, the cast list was put up the next day. I was very anxious to know if I had received a part, and when I saw my name under the list for Chorus, I became so excited, and really proud of myself. My family was so happy, especially my younger brother Noah. He had always wanted to see me as part of the cast, since I had been on crew for other musicals. So he was super excited, when he found out that I had received a part.

This event was an important day for me because, I tried something that was out of my comfort zone.  I am someone who had never had the courage to try out for a musical, but not until my junior year of high school. So this was a very big deal for me, because I am a very shy person who becomes nervous when I am in front of a huge crowd of people. But I was so happy that I had the courage to try out for my first spring musical.

After watching the Ted Talk, I do trust how well I remembered the time I auditioned for my first spring musical. I was able to recall every detail that happened. This event is important to me because, it reminds me that it is okay to go out of my comfort zone and try new things.

How I Got In Jail

I woke up on a Saturday morning just like I always did, but this one was very different. It started with waking up to finding myself cold  and achy. When I opened my eyes, I realized that I was laying on a hard surface  and not my comfortable mattress at home. I did not have any blankets on me, so that is why I was very cold. So I was very confused as to where I was. So I got up and walked around the room and suddenly I saw metal bars and  realized that I was locked up in a jail cell. So I was thinking, how did I get in jail? So I looked through my pockets of my clothing, to see if there were any items to help me solve the mystery of why I was in jail. I was able to find five items. The first item I found was my  cell phone. I remembered that I had my Samsung 4G LTE Smart phone on me, to tell my parents when I was driving  home from my friends  party. Then I discovered, a shiny small blue pop tab from a Bud Light beer can. This helped me to remember that they served beer at the party, and I must have had a few. Then I discovered my Blue Toyota Camry car keys, which led me to realize that I drove myself home after drinking those beers. After the car keys, I found a DUI ticket that cost 12,000 dollars.  So that means I must have been stopped by a police man on the way home, for driving after consuming alcohol. So, they  must have found me going under the speed limit and pulled me over. Then, they must have brought me to the jail and locked me up.  I also found a melted milk chocolate Hershey Kiss in my Hollister jacket pocket.  This led me to remember, that I had some at the party and must have forgotten I had put one in my pocket to have later. So that left me with a very sticky jacket pocket. After I found all the items, I remembered why I ended up in jail. I got arrested for driving after I consumed alcohol. So that was my punishment for making the decision to drive home after having those drinks.

The first time that I heard a song from One Direction ( my favorite music group)

In this blog post, I am writing about the first time that I heard a song from my favorite music group One Direction. One Direction if you are not familiar with this group, are a British-Irish pop boy band who are very popular around the world today. Many girls make up their fan base and I am one of them.  I first became a fan of this music group, when I first heard their hit single What Makes You Beautiful at a dance during my freshmen year of high school. Once the song came on, I automatically decided that I loved it and wanted to purchase it on I-tunes. This song had great lyrics that I loved and an awesome beat that played throughout the entire song. I enjoyed this song so much, that I decided to search for more songs from this amazing group.  Listening to One Direction songs, is something that I have done ever since that wonderful night.  But when I listen to What Makes You Beautiful, it makes me think of the day I heard that song for the first time. I will never forget it. So that is the story of the time, I heard my first One Direction song.
